EMERGENCY / STANDBY POWER SWITCHGEAR

  • On receiving a utility power failure signal, switchgear starts engine generator(s) and controls their synchronization and individual circuit breaker closure to parallel the generators onto the emergency bus.  Additional controls allow transfer of loads to the emergency bus on a priority basis.
  • Complete systems are custom designed and fully manufactured by Russelectric

UTILITY PARALLELING SWITCHGEAR

  • On receiving a utility power failure signal, switchgear starts engine generator(s) and controls their synchronization and individual circuit breaker closure to parallel the generators onto the emergency bus. Additional controls allow transfer of loads to the emergency bus on a priority basis.
  • Upon return of the preferred source, utility paralleling switchgear synchronizes and parallels the engine generators to the preferred source, and transfers the loads without power interruption. 
  • Generator test -- transferring load from source to source without power interruption -- is also available.  Use of the closed transition operation minimizes load interruptions during test and retransfer. 
  • All systems are provided with selector switches for:
    • Open or closed transition
    • Automatic or manual paralleling  of generator or utility sources
    • Automatic or manual retransfer to normal source
  • Active synchronization
  • Soft loading power transfer
  • Utility-approved interconnecting protective relay design

PRIME POWER / COGENERATION SWITCHGEAR

  • For prime power systems, engine generators are run in response to connected load.  If load increases to a predetermined level, additional generators are automatically started, synchronized to the generator bus, and share load with the running generators.  If load decreases to a predetermined level, excess generators are automatically removed from the bus and shut down, returning them to automatic standby status.
  • In cogeneration applications, the generator sets are run to serve the connected load, and heat is also recovered for other uses.  Cogeneration power control switchgear may have additional controls to optimize heat recovery.   Cogeneration systems often operate in parallel with the utility to achieve optimum power and heat generation.
  • Utility/generator paralleling control (where applicable) provides active synchronization and soft loading, and uses a utility-approved interconnecting protective relay system. Soft loading power transfer
